| about to upgrade the scooby. need some advice |

Hey everyone! I have a 2004 wrx and I looking to upgrade to get around 350 hp. (it’s my daily driver) Im been surfing around doing some research to get an idea of what I want to do. From what I see the best biginning mods are a new turbo, engine management system, exhaust, 650cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, boost controller and intercooler; but I have a few questions. Fist im looking at the 18G for a turbo, but I heard that between the 18G and the 16G there isn’t much of a difference. Do I even need to go as big as an 18G if my goal is only around 350 hp? Also, is there a difference between the cobb v2 ecu and something like the turbo xs delta v2? And finally I was looking at the css tmic. the specs are:
Size: 20x4.5x11.5
Advertised pressure drop: less than 1 psi at 14.5 psi
Flow rating: In excess of 850 cfm
max psi: unknown (we have tested to over 35 psi with no leaks)
Temp drop: up to 300 degrees at 80 degrees ambient air temp.

People seem satisfied with their products and they are fairly inexpensive. Would this be sufficient in cooling a 16G\18G? Sorry for all the questions im just trying to do this right the first time. Thanks! -Blake |

Fuck looking at top mounts, that's way later on your list. First get your ECU squared away as that is the best first mod you can get. The subaru community is also filled with good low mileage used parts so always buy used.
Familiarize yourself with ECUs available for your car: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=795608
Whats the difference between a Cobb AccessPORT and a Turbo XS Delta UTEC?
1. TurboXS UTEC sucks. AccessPORT doesn't. Many reputable tuners in the area feel the same way and thus will greatly encourage you to get an AccessPORT.
2. UTEC is a piggy back (which sucks). AccessPORT isn't.
3. As you continually mod your car, downpipe, uppipe, catback, etc... AccessPORT will have tunes for these mods already programmed on it, whereas UTEC wont. Each time you do a mod, you're going to have to pay some tuner $300 each time you want your UTEC retuned to fit your current mods.
Just a side note: if you want launch control get a version 2 accessPORT, if you don't care for launch control/2step then get a version 1 accessPORT.
Also don't listen to those faggots at Subaru meets because they're going to try to convince you that your stock WRX brakes/suspension isnt good enough and you need to upgrade those components. They are mostly elitist faggots that spend money in brakes and suspension but never push their car's limits outside of making the tires chirp on the freeway on-ramp on the way to work.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. |

Tell that to my roommate's old sti with a blown stock turbo or all the people with a shot tranny.
I think you should upgrade in stages as it sounds like this might be your first or one of your first performance cars. Chip, exhaust, intake, injectors, etc, all in stages so it gets quicker as you get more used to it.
The comment on brakes and suspension really depends on what you're using it for. To be safe some better pads and fluid wouldn't hurt but you don't need a ridiculously expensive brake kit or anything.
The idea is that if you're getting up to much higher speeds you'll also need to be able to slow down quicker and take corners (evasive maneuvering) at higher speed.
So when you zoom in and out of traffic nearly killing everyone on the highway like most subie drivers I see, then you might make it through alive.
x3 sell car. |
