Yeah, I was talking with a buddy of mine who is a mechanic at the Port of Oakland and he was telling me he can hook me up with stuff at pretty much their prices (example: Those Goodyear Eagles are about $280/each off the shelf, they get 'em for about $130 or so) so it might be a win. If this guy ever texted or called back it would be nice!
_________________
"Quanto mais você brincar com a porcaria mas ela cheira." roughly translated "The more you play with crap, the more it smells." So leave well enough alone.
If Harley would actually produce a bike that people would like, they would not have to worry about people choosing the much nicer looking foreign sport bikes and better build Japanese cruisers.

You don't stay in business for 100+ years building bikes no one wants. Harley>Your logic.

Times change, people want better bikes. I'm sure their killing of Buell(coming off of an AMA championship win) is a testament to how well the business is doing. As well as the many closed dealerships i come across.

Harley's might have been great in their early days when everyone else was making those kinds of bikes, but they refused to change with the times and they won't last if they keep it up. Their customers are an older generation and they won't live forever.

Totally sleazy. If I remember right Union City and Santa Clara County actually banned them (if someone can confirm it would be great) but Fremont has I think 16 different intersections wired up. Want to talk about REALLY Sleazy? San Francisco has FAKE red light cameras. They'll flash on you but nothing happens. Or what they do is they just have a handful and keep them in rotation. Like one intersection you get flashed on and nothing happens, but a week or a day later you get to that intersection, get flashed again (man if that happens you have bad luck!) and this time you get a legit ticket (so long as they can identify you!)

SHADY AS HELL! I think if you can't afford the cop to monitor the intersection then you can't afford to shell out the $6,000 PER CAMERA PER MONTH (so a typical intersection is $12,000 a month to monitor if it only uses 2 cameras, and that's the minimum) that it costs the cities to run these things! Of course if they were all like Fremont and each ticket was like $500+ then it's no big deal. But still! This is the biggest scam I have ever seen! And they hide behind a police badge... damn shame.
_________________
"Quanto mais você brincar com a porcaria mas ela cheira." roughly translated "The more you play with crap, the more it smells." So leave well enough alone.
Nice info. I got one of those snitch tickets once, and I ignored it cause it seemed dubious to me, and I didn't own the car anyways. Sleazy ass stuff, those red light cameras.

OK, this happened a while ago but I wanted to share what I learned. This might be a repeat for some folks but I didn't see a thread with this information so I wanted to post it.

A while back my wife was hopping on the freeway (880N) on A St. in Hayward and got nailed with a red light violation. Being as the car is in MY name and clearly it was a gender mismatch they sent us a snitch ticket. Some of you might know what these are, but some might not. So let's clarify what it is.

*A "snitch" ticket is a FAKE TICKET (aka "Snitch ticket" aka "Nomination".) It normally comes in the mail within 15 days of the incident (By agreement with RedFlex, the company that sends these things, they MUST send it by the 15th day or it gets thrown out.)

*Normally these come from Arizona and the return address is from "Traffic Enforcement Department" not the actual local PD.

*They will use deceptive wording, like "DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS, DO NOT CONTACT THE COURT REGARDING THIS NOTICE."

*They are almost always (or from Redflex, Always) BLACK AND WHITE! If you get something in the mail and it's black and white with NO COURT DATE, NO FINE AMOUNT, NO COURTHOUSE ADDRESS it's BOGUS!

*here is an example!

If you get one of these, put it in a drawer and forget about it. It hasn't been filed with the courts because they can't identify you, and CA is a "Driver Responsibility" state. If you get one and it looks like this:

or

Your screwed. Also even snitch tickets are recorded on video and most of the time you can access them from the web. Viewing them doesn't = admission of guilt since they clearly can't identify the driver. Just wanted to share my findings with the group.
So as was mentioned I had considered Crown Vic's in the past but the mileage thing kind of gets to me. I know they are built like tanks, comfortable, and run forever as long as you keep up on maintenance (and as my father said "You want comfort, your gonna have to make a sacrifice, in this case "mileage", son." So what's the thoughts on this? I notice it's got DLR (dealer?) plates on the rear so that might be a red flag. I don't know.

Subject: WTS: Custom Gaming Computer
Posted: Fri May 11, 2012 7:36 pm (GMT -7)

Hey Guys,
So I want to sell off my spare computer. I built it because, well, that's what I do. I build computers and work in IT. Below are the specs (I am not charging for the build just for the parts I used minus a percentage since they are now considered used, even though I didn't use this PC for long.)

Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (6 Core CPU) @ 3.5 Ghz (Ok, I overclocked it a little)
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Series: Sabertooth 990FX (Pretty solid board, has a 5 year warranty)
Memory: Patriot DDR3 1333 MHz (4x1GB sticks). They have a lifetime warranty)
Video Card: (Spare I've had for a while) NVidia GTX 260 216 Core OC MAX edition (Good card, can play most games pretty well.)
Case: Antec 302 Series Case
Power Supply: Antec Basiq 500 Watt PSU
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB Sata III
CPU Cooler: Scythe Raesetsu Cooler

At the moment I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed and I have been happy with it. It scores well on Windows 7 (CPU scores 7.4, Video scores 7.2 for Aero and Gaming, the Hard drive scores at 5.9 as most mechanical drives do.)

I won't include Windows since I don't have a legal copy for this computer, but if you google around you can find where to get it pretty cheap. I'm asking $600 just to cover the parts. I'll post pics as soon as I have the time.

For now here is a youtube link (in this video I had 2 older and slower ATI video cards, the Nvidia is better, and this board can support up to 3 way SLI/CrossfireX, just upgrade the power supply if you want to build anything beastly)

http://youtu.be/7H4dCYUPqpQ
_________________
"Quanto mais você brincar com a porcaria mas ela cheira." roughly translated "The more you play with crap, the more it smells." So leave well enough alone.
